Patriots win first two games of the season
North Posey Recap
The Heritage Hills Patriots beat the North Posey Vikings on a score of 55-51 on Friday night. The Patriots went 22 for 38 (57%) in field goals while the Vikings dropped 22 for 45 (48%) in the field. Heritage Hills also put up 4 for 10 (40%) behind the arc while North Posey only made 6 out of 20 (30%) from 3-point range. North Posey led in rebounds with 19 total rebounds while Heritage Hills pulled down only 2 less than the Vikings, 17. The Patriots also scored 12 points off 11 turnovers while the Vikings were blanked on 9 turnovers.
Alec Meunier led the Patriots with 16 points going 6 for 11 (54.5%) in the field, going 2 for 3 (66.6%) behind the arc, and dropping 2 for 3 (66.6%) in free throws made, and also sharing the lead with Kenton Crews in steals with 1. Gabe Hitz pulled down 5 total rebounds, which led the Patriots, and also tied Dalton Selvidge with 1 block.
#41 Grant Scheller led the Vikings with 13 points, while shooting 6 for 8 (75%) in the field and shooting 1 for 2 (50%) in free throws, also leading the Vikings in total rebounds with 9. The Vikings were also led by #15 Jacob Sanford, #22 David Bender, #23 Ethan Morlock, and #21 Trent Weber with each having 2 assists.
Hancock County Recap
The Heritage Hills Patriots got their 2nd straight win of the season against the Hancock County Hornets on a score of 66-57. Heritage Hills went 22 for 38 (57%) from the field while Hancock County went dropped only 17 of 39 (43%). The Patriots lit up behind the arc, going 10 for 16 (62%) while the Hornets only made 7 of their 16 (43%) shots in 3-point range. The Patriots also took charge with rebounds, pulling down 21 total rebounds while Hancock County had 18 total rebounds. Heritage Hills also scored 13 points off 10 turnovers while the Hornets scored 9 points off 8 turnovers.
Again, Alec Meunier led the Patriots with an impressive 29 point resume against the Hornets, shooting 10 for 13 (76.9%) in the field, going 7 for 9 (77.8%) behind the arc (tied a Heritage Hills record), and dropping 2 for 2 (100%) in free throws. Kenton Crews led Heritage Hills in rebounds, grabbing 6 total rebounds. Dalton Selvidge dished out 5 assists, leading the team, he also tied with Mason Becher in steals with 2. Mason Becher also went 8 for 8 (100%) in free throws, which helped the Patriots seal the game.
The Hancock County Hornets were led by #11 Ty Ogle, scoring a total of 24 points, going 6 for 15 (40.0%) in field goals, burying 5 for 11 (45.5%) from behind the arc, and shooting 7 for 11 (63.6%) behind the free throw line. #35 Brandon Lewis led the Hornets in assists with 3 assists. #24 Garret Pale pulled down 5 total rebounds, leading Hancock County. Leading the Hornets charge in steals, #14 Jacob White, stole 2.
